Ah spring, the time of year that I miss one professional sports team in this country... THE MONTREAL EXPOS.
I am a baseball fan. I covered both the 1992 & 93 World Series with the Blue Jays but I always loved going to Montreal to see games at the Big O.
Maybe it was because les Expos were the first Canadian Baseball team with the great Rusty Staub. Maybe it was because I loved hearing John Bocca-Bella's name over the Big O's PA system. Maybe it was the hot dogs at the game (cause you cannot beat a chein chaud all dressed in Montreal) or maybe it was because the National
League was "pure" baseball as the pitchers had to pick up a bat and hit for themselves.
Don't get me wrong I loved days at the ballpark in Toronto but for some reason trips to Expo games were fun.
I have a freind who is a huge Montreal Canadiens fan and everytime he gets the chance he reminds me how many more Stanley Cups the Habs have over my Leafs.
But I can get him back saying that the Blue Jays won two more World Series than the Expos ever did but for some reason he laughs at me.
Probably because he knows that even without a World Series Championship you can't take away the excitement that was les Expos de Montreal.
