From where I sit On The Kowch, there are too many FM radio music stations in Canada that don't take the time to remember the sacrifices of our veterans at 11 o'clock on Remembrance Day.
At the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month the music keeps playing on most music stations in Canada.
Would it be too much to ask all radio stations in Canada to stop the music for a minute or two of silence to honour the sacrifices of our veterans?
A few years ago I drove to Quebec City from Montreal and while on the highway I punched around to hear what French language radio stations were doing at 11 o'clock. Not one station, even the French language talk station didn't pause to remember.
It reminds me of the Pittance of Time music video by Terry Kelly who on November 11, 1999 was in a drug store in Darthmouth, Nova Scotia when a shopper at the cash didn't pause at 11am to remember with everyone else.
From where I sit On The Kowch, it's hard to believe that an industry like radio benefiting from freedom of expression our veterans died to preserve can be so on ungrateful on the one day of the year everyone else - including listeners - pause to remember.
